Term 6
Welcome back to Term 6! We are looking forward to an exciting term in the sunshine and hope to make the most of the good weather with lots of outdoor learning opportunities. Our topic this term is Health, and we’ll kick things off with an exciting STEGM week, before rounding off the year with our always-popular Sports Week. In English, we will be diving into Jack and the Beanstalk and Chocolate Cake by Michael Rosen, enjoying stories and poems that will inspire our reading and writing. In history, we’ll be learning about Florence Nightingale and exploring why she is such a significant person from the past. Our science lessons will focus on reviewing the seasonal data we’ve collected over the year, helping us summarise and evaluate the changes we've observed. It’s going to be a busy and fun-filled term as we begin to prepare for the exciting transition into Year 2!
Homework
Are you working towards your 25 reading band? Or maybe even your 50 reading band? Well done to the children that have managed to read 25 days this term. We look forward to getting more again in Term 5.
In Term 6, our book change day will be twice a week. Please make sure your child has their zippy wallet in school every day so that they can change their book. If your child does not bring their previous book back, we cannot hand out a new one.
In week 2 of Term 6, the children will take their phonics screening test. The children have practised many times throughout the year for this test and the routine will stay the same. The children will sit 1:1 with their teacher to take the test. There is no time limit and the children that need a movement break will be able to do so. You will find out the result of your child's phonics screening test in their end of year school report.
